About Katie

Katie is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 20 years experience in the field of trauma. Graduating from the University of Sydney, she began her clinical experience in NSW Health Sexual Assault Services treating adults who had recently experienced sexual assault, and adult survivors of childhood sexual assault. Her experience in this area led Katie to help deliver the pilot Sustaining NSW Families Program in South West Sydney before joining the NSW Department of Justice and Communities Victims Services, the Domestic and Family Violence policy unit, and Office for Women.

Katie has worked as an academic in Social Work and Social Policy at the University of Sydney and University of Wollongong and has more recently been providing clinical care in a local mental health service and The Women’s Health Centre, Southern Highlands.

Katie’s breadth of experience in both frontline roles and social policy places her in a unique position, combining therapeutic skill with the ability to apply her extensive knowledge of social and policy contexts to improving client outcomes.

Katie’s areas of expertise include treating adults with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders as well as responding to grief and loss. She provides a holistic and trauma-informed approach to supporting clients, delivering the highest standard of evidence-based care, with compassion and respect.

Katie is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
